Alyson Leone is Counsel on the Healthcare Team and Business Law Team.  Her practice includes the representation of healthcare professionals, group practices, hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, ambulatory surgery centers and nursing homes.  Ms. Leone advises on corporate transactional matters such as the formation and structure of healthcare entities, joint ventures, shareholder and employment agreements and licensure compliance.  Her work regularly involves analysis of federal and state statutes and regulations, including Board of Medical Examiners regulations, licensing standards, JCAHO standards, HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, anti-kickback laws and self-referral laws.

Ms. Leone also practices general corporate law, including formation and structure of business entities, negotiating and drafting contracts, stock and asset acquisitions and general corporate counseling.

Ms. Leone has authored a number of articles including “Practices Should Be Aware of the Self-Disclosure Protocol” published in the Medical Group Management Association (“MGMA”) Newsletter in Fall, 2009; “The Benefits and Risks of Self-Disclosure Under the Self-Disclosure Protocol” published in the New Jersey Law Journal, Health Care Supplement on September 14, 2009; “Free Transportation for Patients” published in the MGMA Newsletter in Spring, 2009; “Amendments to Codey Law Finally Signed Into Law” published in the MGMA Newsletter in Winter, 2009, Middlesex County Bar Association-Middlesex Advocate Newsletter, and online at; “OIG Provides New Guidance on Free Transportation” published in the AHLA Physicians Organization Newsletter in July, 2009; “A Free Ride?” published in the MGMA Newsletter; “The Corporate Freeze-Out”, published in the New Jersey Law Journal Corporate Law magazine on July 30, 2007; “Insurer Versus Provider”, published in the New Jersey Law Journal Health Care Law magazine on July 16, 2007; “Can ASCs Provide Free Transportation?”, published in the AHLA Physician Organizations Newsletter; and “Issues in Physician Contracting”, published in the September 2005 issue of Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery.  She also speaks on a number of healthcare and business law topics, including “When to Hold Your Tongue: The Benefits and Risks of Self-Disclosure” at the Health Care Compliance Association, Physician’s Practice Compliance Conference in October, 2009; “Corporate Entities and Ownership Agreements” at the Asian-Indian Chamber of Commerce; and a Lorman seminar entitled “Medical Records Law in New Jersey”.  Ms. Leone was a teaching assistant for a Corporate Law and Practice class at St. John’s University.

Ms. Leone is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Health and Hospital Law Section and Business Law Section, the American Health Lawyers Association (“AHLA”), the Middlesex County Bar Association and the American Bar Association.  She is currently serving as the Vice Chair of Educational Programs of the Accountable Care Organization (“ACO”) Task Force of the AHLA; Region Leader for the AHLA’s Corporate Practice of Medicine Project; and Chair of the Publications Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Health and Hospital Law Section.
